Twitter Contests Are Fun!

I never when anything when I enter contests. Never ever! However, I still enter them regardless of my unlucky streak. My best friend and her boyfriend won a diamond ring last year and ever since then, I’ve been inspired to enter all these random contests just for the heck of it. It couldn’t hurt, right?

Well, the other day I noticed that one of the hotels I follow on twitter and Facebook created a contest where followers could enter to win 2 free nights at their hotel. All I had to do was use get on twitter, and using the hashtag #HotelAkumalCaribe, explain what I’d do the first day I was in Akumal!

Sounds pretty simple! This is what I sent:

I thought this was a pretty good answer mostly because this is really what I’d be doing all vacation! I sent this answer in the first few days of the contest meaning I had to wait a week until they chose the winners.

Yesterday afternoon while I was on the phone with one of my colleagues in Houston, my phone started buzzing and ringing with incoming texts. I ignored them because I was obviously working! (Duh 😉 ).

After I got off the phone I checked the messages, only to find they weren’t messages but notifications from Twitter! Someone had tweeted me. I opened up the app and this is what I saw…

That’s right, folks! I won!!!!! The first time I’ve ever won a contest! I was jumping up and down I was so excited.  I even ran to tell my parents. I darted in there so fast you would have thought I was a little child on Christmas morning running to tell their parents Santa had come!

I can’t wait to lounge on this beach with my drink in hand.

  1. Congrats, I never win competitions like that so I stopped entering. Maybe I should give it a go again!
