The Chamber to Host a Three-Part ‘Disaster Preparedness Series’

(San Antonio, TX)- It’s inevitable. There will be a time when your business is affected by a natural or man-made tragedy. Do you know what to do to protect your business once disaster strikes? The Greater San Antonio Chamber of Commerce presents Disaster Preparedness Series, a three-part morning conference at the Embassy Suites San Antonio Riverwalk that provides businesses with the information they need in case of a crisis.

Registration starts at 7 a.m. The panel discussion for each day begins at 7:30 a.m. to 9 a.m.

“We really want to make sure that if and when a disaster hits San Antonio, businesses are prepared from start to finish,” says Chamber Vice President of Economic Development, Will Garrett.

This series provides answers to questions like who to contact locally in a disaster situation, what insurance coverage should a business have, and more information that businesses never realized they needed to know.

Part 1: San Antonio and South Texas Community Preparedness on August 14 will focus on business awareness. City, state and federal emergency management experts will address our community response plan in the event of a natural disaster, terrorist act or cyber incident. They will discuss how your business plays a role in efficient community response to a disaster and the execution plan in place to address such an event.

Part 2: Strategic Planning and Risk Assessment for Business Organizations on August 21 will provide help to business owners with writing plans on what to do in case of an event. Leading industry experts and local companies will bring their expertise on what your business should be considering now before a disaster strikes. Topics include: business continuity planning, crisis communications, insurance coverage and analyzing your organization’s critical services, functions and components.

The series will end on August 28 with Part 3: Disaster Scenarios, Planning and Execution Tools to Help Your Business. Built on current risks and their work on previous events, post disaster experts will explain how your business would rebuild, both externally and internally, after a disaster happens. They will also address how to work with employees on business continuity should your business face a crisis.
